Dr. Shaw Represents the Green Party
The BC Green Party has announced a candidate for Kelowna-Lake Country for the upcoming May Provincial election.
Dr. Alison Shaw will challenge incumbent Liberal and current Agriculture Minister Norm Letnick.
Shaw is the first authorized researcher to explore how scientists and policymakers influence one another in the Nobel-Prize winning United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
She also founded FlipSide Sustainability, an environmental company that helps clients balance budgets and profits with environmental sensitivity.
“I have never considered politics until now,” says Shaw. “I feel compelled to bring the qualities I believe are lacking in our political environment: a passion to protect what we value in B.C. and the integrity to listen in order to people to create the future we want. I want to support a government that emphasizes evidence and people over politics. I want to promote smart and proven fiscal social and environmental policies that actually strengthen our local economies and communities. The B.C. Green Party provides strategic leadership in this direction, offering a pragmatic and genuine alternative for voters.”
