Volunteers Needed For Canada Day
The North Okanagan Canada Day Society is looking for volunteers to help present their special 150th birthday celebration.
The Society’s Annual General Meeting is next Tuesday, February 28th at the People Place at 7:30 p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend.
The organization needs people for numerous positions from executive membership to just helping out July 1.
“This year is Canada’s 150th anniversary and Vernon’s 125th anniversary,” says Dave Frost, current president of the Society. “Canada Day 2016 was a stunning success and I anticipate that 2017 will be the biggest and best Canada Day celebration ever!”
The celebration involves daytime activities at Polson Park and evening fireworks at Kalamalka Lake.
“I’m very excited to be taking part in this historic celebration,” says Scott Anderson, City Councillor and council liaison to the society. “I was so impressed with what Dave and his team achieved last year, and look forward to an even bigger and better celebration this year.”
