Deadline Extended For Arena Project
Lots of companies are interested in building the new arena at Kal Tire Place.
Vernon Recreation Services Director Doug Ross says tenders were supposed to close today, but they’ve decided to extend it to March 10.
“There has been such great interest in the project that we got some requests to extend the deadline, so we felt that was certainly doable as far as our timeline goes,” Ross tells Kiss FM.
The estimated budget to construct the 400 seat arena is 11.5 million dollars.
“This gives people an opportunity to drill down a little bit more to make sure they’re putting in the best prices possible,” adds Ross
The 400 seat second ice sheet will be built onto the north end of the current building.
Work is expected to start this spring, with the $13 million project targeted to be finished by the fall of 2018.
