Power Pole Taken Out in Icy Crash
With the snow melting during the day, local roads can be icy in the morning — and later at night.
That ice is believed to be the cause of a crash on Highway 97A north of Pleasant Valley Road in Spallumcheen Sunday night around 10:30.
A 23 year old man driving a Buick Century lost control, went off the road, and slid down an embankment, but he was not injured.
“Roads were icy, and this is believed to be a contributing cause of the collision,” says RCMP Cst. Jocelyn Noseworthy.
RCMP were also called to the 7300 block of Highway 97A near Mara Saturday around 11:30 pm for a single vehicle crash.
The driver of a northbound pickup truck lost control at an intersection and hit a power pole, causing it to break.
The 46 year old male driver was not injured.
RCMP remained at the scene blocking the road until BC Hydro could deal with the pole.
“Roads in the area were slippery, and believed to be a factor in the collision,” says Noseworthy.
