Mild Weather Helping Snow Melt
The mild weather is slowly getting rid of the winter snowfall — without creating any flooding issues in Vernon.
The city’s Public Works Manager James Rice says it means crews won’t have to remove the snow on the sides of downtown streets.
“It’s kind of the perfect temperature right now to get rid of the accumulated snowfall on the sides, without creating a major drainage issue for us,” says Rice.
Rice says crews have been clearing the catch basins that may be frozen or covered with snow, but he says there’s been no major issues.
“If residents do happen to notice ponding or other drainage issues, they can certainly call operations at 250 549 6757 to report the issue, or you can go to vernon.ca and report the problem online.”
Rice says the only factor that could change the situation is significant rainfall.
