Schools Under Review
Feb 16, 2017 | 7:00 PM
Residents in Sicamous are again struggling over what will happen to their elementary and secondary schools.
Configuring the schools to make them more viable is under consideration by School District 83.
Three options are being discussed: status quo with K-7 at Parkview and Gr. 8-12 at Eagle River; a K-12 school at Eagle River; or a K-5 at Parkview with room for a day care of early learning program and Gr. 6-12 at Eagle River.
Provincial funding is in place to keep schools open, but official trustee Mike McKay wants more input in making Eagle River more viable with 27 students travelling to Salmon Arm right now to attend secondary school.
