Formal Water Conservation Plan Detailed

Feb 7, 2017 | 3:00 PM

The Village of Lumby is formally spelling out it’s water conservation plan in written form in hopes of becoming eligible for more Provincial grant funding.
Lumby’s goal is to reduce overall consumption by 10% over the next 10 years.
The grants they want will help replace the aging village water piping system that Acting Mayor Lori Mindnich says has run its course.
“We’ve been lucky enough we’ve been getting grants to slowly upgrade.  We won’t get it all done at one time of course because the cost would be astronomical, but a little bit at a time and we are slowly working on one area at a time.”
Mindnich says the majority of her community is on board with that goal.
“I believe they area, most of them are.  You always find newer residents use a little bit more water at first, then they realize they don’t have to use as much water, but yes, I think most of them are.”
Mindnich believes the 10% reduction goal is absolutely achievable.
