Penticton Fire Human Caused

It may be cooler but another wildfire has popped up in the Vernon fire zone and another in the Penticton zone.

Nicole Bonnett of the BC Wildfire Service told Beach Radio News, close to 160 personnel continue to fight and monitor four major Monashee Complex wildfires, including 100 on the Harris Creek fire southeast of Lumby.

She says they will likely remain in the area throughout the remainder of the long weekend.

The B-C Wildfire Service confirms the larger of the two fires, burning south of Penticton, remains within the local fire department’s jurisdiction.
