Lake Country students graduate from Junior Fire Fighter Academy

Twenty two students from George Elliot Secondary School have completed a hands on firefighter training program through a partnership with the Lake Country Fire Department.

The Junior Fire Fighter Academy wrapped up after five months of instruction, with students completing 100 hours of training and earning the equivalent of a four credit high school course.

The program included classroom lessons and practical training in areas such as first aid, fire hose deployment, hydrant operations, vehicle fire suppression, auto extrication and wildfire mitigation.

Graduates also received Canadian Red Cross Basic Life Support certification, B.C. Wildfire Service S 100 certification and a GESS Lake Country Fire Department Junior Fire Academy completion certificate.
