Hill Makes It To Quarter Final In Pyeongchang

UPDATE:

Kevin Hill of Vernon made it to the quarterfinals in men’s snowboard cross at the Winter Olympics and finished fourth in his heat, thus failing to qualify for the semi finals.

He finished the event in 14th place, out of the 40 participants.

Hill told his family he’s disappointed, but he’s thankful he wasn’t injured after the crash-filled event

Calgary’s Chris Robanske was the top Canadian, making it to the semifinals, where he crashed and was injured.

Pierre Vaultier of France was the event winner, his second straight Olympic gold medal.

Hill plans to stay in Pyeongchang until the closing ceremony, and then continue onto further events.

His mother Arleigh, tells CJIB News, Kevin isn’t planning to return to Vernon until March as he still has three World Cup events to compete in.

Vernon’s Kevin Hill begins competition in the men’s Olympic snowboard cross around 6 pm our time tonight in Pyeonchang.

The 31 year old Hill is one of Canada’s top medal hopes in the sport after finishing as the top Canadian male in Sochi four years ago, in eighth.

Hill has said his goal this year is to make the podium.
