North Okanagan-Shuswap School District Audit Favourable

Sep 27, 2017 | 9:44 AM

Auditors KPMG have given the North Okanagan Shuswap School District a thumbs up.

Their report on the district’s financial statements for the year that ended June 30th was presented at Tuesday night’s board meeting.

The report says the district’s financial statement is in accordance with expected financial reporting provisions.

“The auditor had positive things to say about our processes and about the work staff on the financial side have been doing.”

Trustee Mike McKay also says the report  compared the district’s reporting to other regions.

“We compared certainly in the middle of the pack and quite favourably across there and that was good to see. And it’s a reassurance that we’re certainly keeping up to pace and hopefully picking up the pace as well.”

He’s encouraged the coming year will be positive

“It’s been a very good start and I commented last night that my feedback and the feedback the senior staff have been receiving since the schools opened well and positively. Lots of challenges around the restored and collective agreement language and hiring new teachers but there’s a real energy.”

The financial statement will now be sent on to the Education Ministry and posted on the school district’s website at www.sd83.bc.ca.
