New section of Rail Trail open
People who like to spend time outdoors have more trails to walk or ride.
A new 14 kilometre section of the Splatsin te Secwépemc / Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail from Grindrod to Rosemond Lake Bridge has opened to the public, giving people a total of 34 kilometres of new trail between Armstrong and Sicamous to access.
The section of the trail from Grindrod to Mara Lake was slated to be completed and open to the public by July 17, while the trail sections between Enderby and Grindrod and around Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous remained closed to the public due to ongoing construction and environmental work.
Splatsin First Nation said funding had been secure for construction of almost the entire trail, with the exception of a 6.5 kilometre section, and work was ongoing to ensure there was money to finish the trail.
