Campfires: Not Yet in City of Vernon

The campfire ban has been lifted in many areas of the province.
That includes designated areas of the Kamloops, Southeast and Cariboo fire centres.
However that although the fire ban has been lifted within the Kamloops Fire District, it has NOT been lifted within the City of Vernon and still remains in effect
Max Birkner from the BC Wildfire Service says the ban had been in effect since early July but activity has slowed down, with no new fires in the last few days.
He says the fire danger rating in most of the centre is moderate to high.
The City of Armstrong is also maintaining its ban on all open air burning until conditions improve.
