Armstrong Chases Unsightly Premises

Sep 15, 2017 | 6:55 AM

A bylaws report to Armstrong Council revealed a surprising figure.

Mayor Chris Pieper says most complaints to bylaw enforcement is unsightly premises.

“You can drive around town and you can definitely see them and I encourage all people to look after their property and make it as good for their neighbours and good for themselves”

He says it was a bit surprising to see the number of complaints that came in.

“Through the three months there was 19 visits by the law officer to various properties to clean up. our bylaw officer generally knocks on the door to talk to them.”

The complaints are varied.

“You know, it’s a combination of everything. It’s clean up. It’s looking after your buildings. It’s lawns. It’s gardens. If you let the weeds grow four feet high you get a knock on your door.”

Anyone who doesn’t clean up over a specified period of time gets a ticket.

Pieper says with a dry summer you can see people haven’t been taking as much care of their yards as the may normally do.
