Gymnastics Facility Closer To Full Approval

Sep 7, 2017 | 12:16 PM

The legalization of the Okanagan Rhythmic Gymnastics Society`s operation in a large building on East Vernon Road is almost`complete.

The Regional District of North Okanagan gave third reading to a zoning bylaw.

Chair Bob Fleming says owner Camille Martens has been meeting all the conditions that have come up, with just a few left.

“They have to register a covenant with the ALC related to the use of the property being restricted to rhythmic gymnastics use and to the owner herself, Camille.”

Another condition deals with a septic system.

“They have a requirement from Interior Health to show, because the facilities have washrooms in the, to show on-site sewer.”

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure also requires a commercial access permit.

“The indication is the owner already has the application. MOTI is looking at it. there were some questions to be answered. I think one of the questions was they run an event. MOTI was interested in numbers of people. Therefore traffic etc.”

Dozens of people showed up at the RDNO meeting to show their support for Martens.
