Elliott Road improvements set to begin in West Kelowna

Sep 11, 2026 | 3:00 PM

Construction on a major safety upgrade along Elliott Road is expected to begin early next year.

The project will improve the section of Elliott Road between Smith Creek Road and Reece Road, adding a new multi-use pathway, street lighting, retaining walls and upgraded stormwater infrastructure.

West Kelowna council is being asked to award the construction contract to Okanagan Civil Constructors Ltd. for $3.1 million, excluding GST.

The company submitted the highest-ranked proposal among four bids received through the city’s request-for-proposals process, scoring 92.3 per cent.

The project has an approved budget of $4.5 million, funded through the Growing Communities Reserve, roads development cost charges and grants.

Current estimates put the total project cost at about $3.83 million, including construction, contingency, utilities and professional services.

That could leave roughly $674,000 in uncommitted funds to be returned to reserves once the project is complete, although the final amount will depend on actual construction costs.

With only a few months remaining in the 2026 construction season, work is planned to begin in early 2027.
