Okanagan water supplies under pressure

Water levels in the Okanagan are continuing to drop as severe drought conditions remain across the region.

The B.C. government says Okanagan Lake and Kalamalka Lake are at record low levels, raising concerns about water supplies, agriculture and fish populations.

Officials say the southern Interior is experiencing some of the worst drought conditions in the province, with little relief expected in the coming days. Hot, dry weather is expected to continue, with no significant rainfall in the forecast.

Low water levels are also affecting rivers and streams throughout the region. Officials say declining streamflows and warmer water temperatures are creating challenges for fish, including salmon populations.
