Death in Six Mile Creek Area

Not Guilty plea entered in Vernon murder trial

Aug 6, 2025 | 3:51 PM

A murder case has gone to trial in Vernon, with the defendant pleading not guilty.

The trial of Peter Visintainer, accused of first degree murder in the death of Wolf-Ingo Beyer, began at the Vernon law courts Tuesday, August 5.

The B.C. Prosecution Service said the Crown’s application for certain witnesses in the trial to appear via videoconference was also granted Tuesday, while an order excluding other witnesses was made.

The trial is expected to take six weeks to come to a decision.

Beyer’s body was discovered in the Six Mile Creek area, near Westside Road, on May 29 of 2022. Visintainer was arrested a few days after the body was discovered and originally charged with second degree murder. That charge was upgraded the following August after the Crown alleged the death was “planned and deliberate.”
