Local company donates bikes to kids in need

A local boat building company has provided a generous donation to area children.

KingFisher Boats has donated bicycles to the North Okanagan Youth and Family Services Society (NOYFSS), which are then being passed on to children and youth in need.

“We are incredibly grateful to KingFisher Boats for thinking of NOYFSS and the families we serve,” Dean Francks, Executive Director of NOYFSS, said.

“For many of these youth, a bike is more than just a gift, it’s a chance to feel free, to explore, and to just be a kid. This donation will have a lasting impact on these recipients.”

KingFisher staff participated in a corporate team building event, hosted by Inspired to Play, during which they participated in a surprise bike-building challenge, which is where these bicycles came from.

“This event was a perfect blend of fun, purpose, and giving back,” Baxton Bolton, President of KingFisher Boats, said.

“We’re proud to support NOYFSS and the meaningful work they do in our community. It was inspiring to see our team come together to build something that will bring such joy to local children.”

The company built and donated six bikes through this initiative. They also donated helmets, locks, water bottles and other bike accessories and equipment needed to get the kids out and riding.

NOYFSS provides social services and supports to children, youth, and families in need in the North Okanagan.
