Care home residents being relocated due to flooding in Merritt

Interior Health is relocating residents of care homes in Merritt where a city-wide evacuation order has been issued due to flooding.

I-H said resident from Coquihalla Gillis House, Nicola Meadows and the Florentine, as well as patients from the Nicola Valley hospital and other community health facilities, are being relocated to neighbouring communities.

People wishing to confirm the location of an evacuated person can call 1-87-442-2001.

The flooding has also forces the closure of the Nicola Valley Hospital and emergency department, and anyone who requires emergency care is advised to call 911 or to visit the emergency department at the Kelowna General Hospital or the Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.
