Spall Road upgrades underway, construction to continue through 2026

Jul 14, 2026 | 11:50 AM

Construction is underway on transportation upgrades along Spall Road between Bernard Avenue and Highway 97, with work expected to continue through November 2026.

The project will take place in phases and includes road reconstruction, underground utilities, new lighting and traffic signals, sidewalk and curb upgrades, paving and landscaping. Crews will move block-by-block through the corridor rather than closing the entire stretch at once.

Pedestrian and cyclist detours are in place, with travellers required to cross at Clement Avenue and use the southbound sidewalk and lane to continue north.

Traffic at the Clement Avenue intersection will be reduced to a single lane from 5 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily, with both lanes reopening afterward.

The work is part of the broader redevelopment of Parkinson Recreation Centre and surrounding infrastructure upgrades. The improvements are intended to improve safety, support growing traffic demands and enhance connectivity in the area.

The project is also being coordinated with nearby improvements, including upgrades to Burtch Road and future School District 23 development.

Residents, drivers and cyclists should expect temporary delays, lane reductions, construction noise and occasional access changes during the project. The city said access to homes, businesses and facilities will be maintained wherever possible.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and check current road conditions before travelling through the area. Updates are available at kelowna.ca/roadreport.
