Kelowna businesswoman runs for city council

Jul 14, 2026 | 6:01 PM

A Kelowna businesswoman will throw her hat into the ring for city council.

Teresa May announced she would run in the 2026 municipal election.

She said her focus will be on safer neighbourhoods, responsible growth and supporting local businesses.

In a media release, May said after decades of serving Kelowna through volunteer leadership, local businesse, and community organizations, she hoped to help shape the city’s future for the next generation.

“Kelowna has given so much to my family over the years,” she said.

“Now, as a grandmother, I think about the kind of city my grandchildren will grow up in. I believe we have an opportunity to build a safer, stronger Kelowna; one that supports families, seniors, businesses, and future generations while remaining financially responsible and focused on practical solutions.”
