North Okanagan school closed due to COVID-19 exposures

Nov 15, 2021 | 4:08 PM

An Enderby school will be closed this week due to a number of positive COVID-19 exposures.

School District 83 says students at M.V. Beattle Elementary will be learning from home Nov. 15-19.

Staff were given the opportunity to prepare for the change today, Nov. 15.

The district has also had positive exposures this month at A.L. Fortune Secondary, Len Wood Middle School, Carlin and Highland Park.

When there is an exposure, Interior Health will directly notify confirmed close contacts of the positive case with further instructions, including if they should self-isolate or self-monitor for symptoms of illness.

Common symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, fever/chills, shortness of breath, and loss of taste and smell. Most people experience only a mild case of the disease. A small number of people may experience a more moderate to severe bout with the illness requiring hospitalization.
