It looks like OkToblerfest is here to stay.

Just a day after the first annual food and drink event wrapped up at Wings Vernon, organizers have already set the dates for next year from Oct. 6–9, 2022.

The inaugural celebration ran from Thursday, Oct. 7 to Sunday Oct. 10, honouring German heritage, food, dance, culture, and gemütlichkeit (friendliness) in Vernon, the home of Okanagan Spring Brewery and the Tobler family who founded the craft brewery in 1985.

“Traditions aren’t things frozen in time. They’re meant to grow and change along with the community that celebrates them,” said Sherman Dahl, President and CEO of the Pretium Group, owner of the host restaurant, Wings Vernon.

Planning will be soon be underway for next year where more events and more live bands will be added.

“You can be sure it will be much bigger next year,” said Katie Dahl, Wings Vernon owner. “We have the original 200 or so that participated this year and we are all proud to be founders of the first year! I have found that laughter and smiles always make me happier — OkToblerfest is all about fun and smiles all weekend long — not much is better than that.”

Stefan Tobler who co-founded the event with Katie Dahl, agreed it was a success.

“It was truly a great weekend. The food portion of the event was very well executed by the Wings team. Life is Wundebar with great beer, great food and great friends,” said Tobler, who is the brewmaster at Okanagan Spring.

Organizers say this brother and his sister had a wonderful time at OkToblerfest. Next year will also feature more for Oktoblerfest Kidz. (Photo credit: Obtoblerfest)
