Vipers comeback in season opener falls short
The new BC Hockey League season got off to a losing start for the Vernon Vipers.
The Penticton Vees built up a 4-0 lead over two periods and hung on to beat the Vipers 4-2 Friday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre, one of seven opening night games for the league’s 60th anniversary season.
Josh Niedermayer, son of former NHL geat Scott Niedermayer and a Penticton native, led the Vees with two goals.
