Highest number of new COVID-19 cases since late May

COVID-19 case numbers are up for a fifth straight day in B.C. with 243.

Fifty-four (54) per cent of the new cases were in Interior Health with 131, increasing the active cases in the health region to 693.

Fraser Health is next in active cases with 277, and new cases with 56.

The 243 new cases is the highest in B.C. since May 29, 2021.

There are 1,231 active cases in the province with 47 people in hospital and 16 in intensive care.

In the last 24 hours, no new deaths have been reported, for an overall total of 1,771.

There are two active outbreaks in long-term care facilities: Holyrood Manor (Fraser Health) and Nelson Jubilee Manor (Interior Health)

More than 6.7 million vaccine doses have gone into arms in B.C. with 81.1 per cent of eligible people 12 and older getting their first dose and 64.9 per cent fully vaccinated.
