B.C. COVID update Wednesday: 113 more cases

B.C. has recorded another 113 cases of COVID-19 Wednesday (June 16), including 31 within Interior Health.

The totals were included in an update prepared by Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry.

Overall, B.C. has seen 146,674 cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began, spread out as follows:

  • 35,284 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 27)
  • 85,375 — Fraser Health (up by 51)
  • 5,140 — Island Health (up by 4)
  • 12,902 — Interior Health (up by 31)
  • 7,770 — Northern Health (unchanged)
  • 202 — Reside outside of Canada (unchanged)

Henry says the active caseload in B.C. is now 1,454, a decrease of 42 from Tuesday. There are 134 people in hospital and 41 in intensive care.

Four more people have died of COVID-19 in B.C., increasing the provincial death toll to 1,738.

The total of those considered fully recovered from the virus has reached 143,449, or 98 per cent of all recorded cases.

Henry says 76.3 per cent of adults and 74.6 per cent of all British Columbians aged 12 or older have now received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine. A total of 4.2 million doses of vaccine have been administered, including 710,847 second doses.
