Canada Post apologizes, reinstates Izzy McQueen as Santa’s helper

Canada Post is trying to make it right with Izzy McQueen.

After 34 years responding to letters sent to Santa, the Kamloops woman was told this year that her services were no longer needed.

Canada Post told her that the job of helping Santa respond to letters would henceforth be handled by the Canada Post Heritage Club.

CFJC Today brought attention to Izzy’s involuntary retirement last week.

In an email to CFJC Today, Canada Post apologized for the “misunderstanding.”

The Crown corporation says it has named Izzy McQueen an “Honourary Elf by order of the North Pole.” A spokesperson says Canada Post contacted her this morning to share the news.

The email says it’s hoped Izzy “will continue to help Santa keep the magic of Christmas alive.”
