New high for COVID-19 cases in B.C.

Health officials are reporting 887 new COVID-19 cases in B.C., a new daily high for the province.

Sixty-five of the new cases are in Interior Health.

There has also been 13 new COVID-related deaths, bringing the B.C. total to 384.

There is now 374 active cases in Interior Health with nine people in hospital, and two of those in intensive care.

Provincially, there are 7,899 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, with 294 people hospitalized, and 64 in intensive care.

Currently, 10,307 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases and 19,998 people who tested positive have recovered.

In addition to the 65 new cases in IH, there are 168 new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 612 in Fraser Health, 18 in Island Health, 24 in Northern Health and no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

There are two new health-care facility outbreaks at Royal Ascot Care Centre and Amica White Rock. The outbreaks at Hamlets at Westsyde, Peace Portal Seniors Village and Village by the Station are over.

There have been no new community outbreaks.
