Yoga business shutting down, not able to survive in ‘new normal’
A popular hot yoga business in Vernon is closing its doors due to issues surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dionne Kopeck and Heather Comazzetto, owners and instructors at The Hot Room @ Studio be — which has been open almost 10 years — say the difficult decision was due to mandated government rules with the consequence of having no revenue coming in and no foreseeable dates to reopen their doors.
“Before we were forced to close our doors [in mid March] the community here at the studio was thriving,” the owners told Vernon Matters in an email. “February into March was one of our busiest months in 10 years. There is such a strict policy and procedures to maintain safe operation with the additional costs and labour that it all becomes unfeasible for our business model.”
