Coquihalla Tragedy Claims Life

A Vernon area couple have lost their two week old son after a medical emergency on the Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt Monday.

RCMP say the couple was taking their baby to BC Children’s Hospital for a minor issue when he stopped breathing in their vehicle.

The couple pulled over and began CPR and an air ambulance helicopter was called in, but the child was pronounced dead en route to Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops.

The death was unrelated to the issue the family was traveling to the Children’s Hospital for.
