Kelowna 2019 55+ BC Games Sept 10-14

The public is invited and encouraged to attend the Kelowna 2019 55+ BC Games, taking place from September 10-14 at various venues throughout the city.

The largest 55+ BC Games to date will welcome over 4,100 participants to Kelowna to compete in 30 sports.

Dates of note:

September 11

  • Day 1 of sports (an internal start/stop document can be obtained upon request)
  • Opening Ceremonies, 7pm, Prospera Place
    • Gloria Morgan of the Secwépemc First Nations of the Shuswap will bring blessings to our gathering.
    • Amber Cardenas will sing the Okanagan Song
    • Sam Lamont, RCMP will bring in the flag
    • Singing Oh Canada – Kitsch ‘n Sync
    • The Okanagan Firestorm Cheerleaders
    • The Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Multiculturalism, Province of British Columbia, Anne Kang. Will light the torch.
    • Wentworth Family will perform ‘This is your time’ and the Wentworth School of Music will perform ‘Celebrate’

September 12

  • Day 2 of sports

Septemer 13

  • Day 3 of sports
  • Friday Night Street Party, 7pm – 10pm, Rotary Centre for Arts Common

September 14

  • Final day of sports
  • Closing ceremonies 1:30pm – 2:30pm, Rotary Centre for the Arts
    • Blessing by representative from the Sylix Peoples Nation
    • Kinshira performance
    • Robert Fine will conclude the day’s event with ‘My Way’

All sporting events and venues, as well as both opening and closing ceremonies, are open to the public.
