Plenty to see and do for Canada Day

Canada is turning 152, and there is no shortage of activities around the North Okanagan to help people celebrate.

Vernon’s Canada Day events will be centered at Polson Park with the fireworks at 10:30 Monday night from Kin Beach On Oakangan Lake.

Armstrong’s activites are at Memorial Park starting with the opening ceremony at 11 a.m, with events continuing until 4 p.m.

Enderby’s celebration begins with a parade at 11:30 a.m and then a car show, music and family events at Barnes Park from 12:30 to 3 p.m, with fireworks from Riverside Park at dusk.

Lumby has a busy day planned at Oval Park with a walk, roll and run race at 8:30 a.m, the opening of the water park at 9 a.m and the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. There will also be free swimming at the poll and music.

Vernon’s activities will kick off in Polson Park at 10 a.m. with the official opening ceremonies and cake cutting starting at 12 p.m.

“We are excited to announce the Olympia Cycle and Ski kids bicycle rodeo, ATV rides, Dogopogo Dog agility demonstration and Okanagan Skate Co. freestyle skateboard competition are back again. New this year we will have the extreme motocross team jumping an Okanagan Restoration Cube Van,” said North Okanagan Canada Day Society President Dave Frost.

“The O’Keefe Ranch Stagecoach has also returned to offer nostalgic rides around the park. We also have a fantastic line up of stage events as well as food vendors, a dunk tank, Floppy Shots mini golf, stilt walkers, Brown’s Social House bounce castles, and carnival games presented by Emmanuel Baptist Church,” said Frost

Vernon Winter Carnival will also be running broomball games activities.

10 a.m. – Sadok Ukrainian Dancers • 11 – Knu Punk • 11:45 – Kalamalka Highland Pipe Band • 12: – Opening Ceremonies (Color Party, dignitaries, speeches) • 12:15 – Singing of O’ Canada • 12:30pm – Cake cutting, aircraft flyover in formation, kids bike parade registration • 12:40 – Kids bike parade • 1 – Kiki the Eco Elf • 2:15 – Magician Leif David • 3 –Vic “the one man dance band”

Field
• 11 and 2 – Extreme motocross demonstrations with Reagan Sieg Co-sponsored by Okanagan Restoration • Dogopogo dog agility demonstration at 10:30 a.m. • Dump Runz dunk tank running all day with special guests • 9 – 4 – ATV, dirt bike and off-road vehicle static displays on East end of track • 10 – 4 – Vernon ATV Club with a special course geared up to give rides to kids in a side by side train.
