Downtown Projects Coming To An End
Detours and traffic issues caused by city projects in downtown Vernon could become fairly rare after next year.
Mayor Akbal Mund says the 29th Street corridor will be the last of the major work.
“There is a couple more streets left in the actual downtown core that need to be done, and they’ll be done by the end of next year. And I think everybody — especially the business community — will be happy there is no work planned for the next 25, 30 years in the downtown core,” Mund told Beach Radio News.
Mund says the city’s four year capital plan also includes adding a multi-use path along Silver Star Road to the Foothills neighborhood, to make it safer for BX Elementary students and residents.
