Update: 2 pm

Highway 97A and Pleasant Valley Road in Armstrong has been re-opened after an incident site was cleared.

A logging truck that hit a power pole was towed away.

Update: 12 pm:

It could be several hours before traffic is back to normal on the highway in Armstrong-Spallumcheen.

A logging truck hit a power pole, leading to Highway 97A being closed from Pleasant Valley Road to the highway, with no access in or out of that road until further notice.

“We have road closed signs and the road, the turn lanes and everything is completely closed, but there is not a lot of warning,” says Traci Jeeves from Okanagan Traffic Control which is on the scene.

Jeeves says the truck is still under the pole and officials are waiting for an assessment from Hydro before anything else is done.

Traffic is being detoured onto Otter Lake Cross Road.
