Extensive hydro infrastructure damage caused by Bradley Creek wildfire
BC Hydro crews continued to respond to significant damage Sunday caused by the Bradley Creek wildfire, which has left more than 3,500 customers without power in the Westside Road, Vernon and Spallumcheen areas.
The wildfire , measured at 2,600 hectares , and encompassing the entire northern tip of Okanagan Lake was still rated as out of control late Sunday by the BC Wildfire Service.
BC Hydro said early observations indicate extensive damage. To date, BC Hydro has identified well over 100 damaged distribution structures, including power poles and related equipment. Additional damage may be discovered as crews gain further access to the affected area.
All Okanagan Indian Band residents remained under evacuation order because of the fire and many areas to the northwest and northeast remained on evacuation alert.
