Wildfire near Bear Creek Park under control
One down, two to go.
That’s was the scenario for BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) and local fire crews late Sunday afternoon who have been tackling three wildfires on Okanagan Lake communities this holiday weekend.
Sunday afternoon the BCWS reported the Blue Grouse Creek fire, some 10 kilometres from West Kelowna and near the Bear Creek Provincial Park was under control. That news came a few hours after the initial breakthrough that the blaze was being held.
This particular fire is different from the other two more serious fires further north up the lake in that its behaviour was always more ‘smouldering’ as the BCWS put it rather than a rampant wildfire. It was burning largely in a previous wildfire scar.
