Rockslide prevention work done along Centennial, Apex Drives

A project has been done with the goal of helping protecting properties, people and infrastructure in Vernon.
Crews removed rock debris as part of slope stabilization work from the boulevards at Apex Drive and Centennial Drive, and protective barriers were installed in those areas.
“The rocky slopes at these locations have experienced long-term deterioration due to factors such as weathering and vegetation growth,” a city staff report said.
“This had resulted in debris falling down the slopes and collecting on sidewalks and, at times, entering the roadway.”
