Okanagan College recreation centre project moves into final construction phase

May 22, 2026 | 3:00 PM

Construction is entering the final phase on the Don Folk and Family Recreation and Wellness Centre at Okanagan College as fundraising efforts continue to build around the project.

The facility, scheduled to open in fall 2026 on the college’s Kelowna campus, will include a competition-size gymnasium, fitness and weight-training areas, a suspended indoor track, flexible fitness studios and seating for more than 700 spectators.

College officials say the centre is designed to support student wellness, recreation and community connection while creating a new gathering space on campus.

A coalition of construction companies and trades involved in the project, organized through TKI Construction, has launched a $100,000 fundraising campaign tied to one of the facility’s wellness spaces, known as The Constructor’s Studio. The group has contributed $80,000 so far toward the campaign.

TKI Construction president Brandon Panopoulos said the initiative reflects the commitment of trades workers and local companies helping build the facility and support future students.

The project is part of the college’s Thrive Here campaign, which is working toward a $14-million fundraising goal.

The college says donations to the campaign remain open as construction continues toward completion.
