A campaign aimed at attracting skilled workers and business-people to Vernon has landed the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce a provincial award.

The British Columbia Economic Development Association (BCEDA) held its 2024 awards at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and Conference Centre.

The Greater Vernon Chamber won the Economic Development Marketing Innovation Award for a community with a population over 20,000, for its “Work and Invest Vernon campaign.”

The campaign began in 2023 and focused on drawing skilled workers and entrepreneurs to Vernon. The campaign collaborated with community partners and consists of videos and an online landing page which were utilized in targeted marketing ads.

“It’s a huge honour to be recognized for our Work and Invest Vernon Campaign on a provincial scale,” Dan Proulx, Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce General Manager, said. “The award also helps to showcase the role that chambers of commerce can play in supporting economic development by attracting a skilled workforce and investment to the community. We’re extremely proud of this accomplishment that helps to serve and support our business and non-profit members, which are the key to a thriving community.”

Organizations that supported the campaign include Kal Tire, Tolko Industries, KingFisher Boats, City of Vernon and Restoration Lands.

The awards recognize BCEDA members for outstanding work in supporting their local economies and making a meaningful difference in their communities.
