STEM fair aims to inspire future scientists, more in regional competition

Mar 3, 2026 | 3:23 PM

An event is planned to showcase the next generation of scientists, engineers and innovators.

The Okanagan Shuswap Regional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Fair will be held at UBC Okanagan Tuesday, March 10.

Approximately 80 students between Grade 3 to 12 from Revelstoke to Penticton will be presenting their STEM projects to judges. There will be close to $4,500 in prizes and awards up for grabs, and the top projects will go in to represent the region at the 2026 Canada Wide Science Fair.

Judges will include OBC and Okanagan College faculty and students, community members from the Okanagan Science Centre, and representatives from local STEM industries.

The general public will be able to view the projects between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. March 10, but the STEM Fair Floor will then close so the judges can assess the works.

The fair is hosted in collaboration with Westcoast Women in Engineering, Science and Technology (WWEST).
