The Archway Society for Domestic Peace is putting on an art exhibit showcasing people’s journeys through healing.

The third annual Creatrix Rising Exhibit: Healing Through Art show will showcase the work of women who have survived domestic and sexual violence.

The exhibit will be on display at the Caetani Cultural Centre from March 7 to 14, and a special opening night celebration will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 7. Admission will be by donation with proceeds going to support Archway programs.

The Creatrix Rising program aims to give participants a safe and welcoming space to tell their stories, express themselves, and find healing through art.

The society said participating artists endorsed the program, stating that it helped “rediscover, protect and promote my creative voice,” create “a bridge to a greater story of exposure and liberation,” and provided a space that was “safe to explore your story with curiosity, to explore art, and to simply exist.”

The artists involved have been working on their pieces since September, such as clay moldings, acrylic paintings, poetry, watercolors, collages, and more. They were also provided mentorship to help foster personal growth and create meaningful connections while putting together their work.

“Art has been used though out history to tell stories, process emotions and reduce stress,” Cindy Klassen, Creatrix Rising Coordinator, stated.

“Being a part of this program means I have been able to witness the power of art in the face of trauma first hand. How the act of simply offering space to explore and be creative has impacted the blossoming artists in amazing. Each piece tells its own story of resilience, courage, and freedom to create. Art opens a path to healing that words alone often cannot, and seeing this journey unfold is a reminder of why programs like Creatrix Rising are so vital,” Klassen said.
