One half of the former Vernon Vipers popular duo known as “the twins,” is now a Stanley Cup champion.

Connor Jones is an amateur scout with the Vegas Golden Knights, and pictures on social media show him hoisting the legendary trophy over his head after the team’s game five clinching victory over the Florida Panthers on June 13.

The post was sent out by Connor’s twin brother, Kellen, to congratulate his sibling.

“So proud of you, Con! Way to go guys!” Kellen remarked.

The Jones brothers, who are from Montrose B.C., played for the BCHL’s Vipers for four seasons (2006-2010) and were fan favourites, helping the team win its last Royal Bank Cup in 2010 in Dauphin, Manitoba.

After that, the twins both got scholarships to Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, and after that, had careers mostly in the minor leagues.

Connor, now 32, did play four games in the NHL for the New York Islanders in the 2016-17 season. The brothers’ last seasons of pro hockey were both with the Fort Wayne Comets of the East Coast Hockey League in 2021-22.

Kellen Jones got drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010 in the seventh round, 202nd overall, but never played an NHL game.
