Vipers trim Spruce Kings to end winless streak

The Vernon Vipers ended a six game winless skid with a 4-3 victory over the Prince George Spruce Kings Wednesday night.

A crowd of 1,265 took in the BCHL game at Kal Tire Place.

Zack Tonelli, son of former NHL great John Tonelli, was named the first star with a goal and one assist including the game winner midway through the third period that put Vernon up 4-1.

Matthew Culling, Griffen Barr and Ryan Shostak also scored for the Vipers who improved to 4-4-3-1 after 12 games.

Roan Clarke made 24 saves for the win in net.

The two teams meet again Friday in Prince George, a game you can hear on 107.5 Beach Radio/Vernon Matters starting at 6:45 p.m.

In the KIJHL Wednesday, the North Okanagan Knights edged the Kelowna Chiefs 3-2 with Devin Jameson scoring the winner and adding an assist.
