Charges laid after fatal crash

Aug 13, 2021 | 11:26 AM

Charges have been laid following a fatal accident last Thanksgiving Day on Highway 33 at Goudie Road in Kelowna.

A 60-year-old man from the South Okanagan on a motorcycle was hit head-on by an eastbound Chevrolet Tracker which crossed into the motorcyclist’s lane on Oct. 12, 2020.

The 19-year-old driver, Carlie Dudych of Kelowna, has been charged with driving without due care and attention.

“The widow of the man killed in this senseless collision is devastated by the overwhelming loss of her husband,” said Corporal Samantha Audley of B.C. Highway Patrol in Kelowna. “These investigations are very complex, involving specialized units including the collision analysis and reconstruction service, and can take many months to complete before presenting the file to Crown counsel for charge recommendation.”
