Speeding drivers have vehicles impounded in North Okanagan

Two drivers had their vehicles impounded during speed enforcement by BC Highway Patrol officers in the North Okanagan.

Sgt. Allan Roberts, the officer in charge of BC Highway Patrol Falkland, said the enforcement Wednesday morning (June 30) was targeting speeding and aggressive driving.

“Among the tickets written, two were for excessive speed. One driver was found going 160 km/h in a 100 km/h zone and another for going 144 km/h in a 90 km/h zone. Both drivers lost their vehicles for seven days and face a $368 fine,” Roberts said. “We want to remind motorists that there is no need to speed.”

Roberts added patrol members and Vernon North Okanagan RCMP will be out this weekend on roadways throughout the area targeting speed, cell phone use, and impaired driving.
