Drop in new COVID-19 cases in B.C.

British Columbia saw a significant drop in new COVID-19 cases on Thursday with 357.

That’s the lowest number since mid-February, and it lowered the seven-day average to 449 cases per day.

Just a day earlier, the daily number was 521.

Of the new cases, 33 were in Interior Health, with 80 in Vancouver Coastal Health, 210 in Fraser Health, 12 in Island Health and 22 in Northern Health.

There are 4,636 active cases in B.C., with 331 people in hospital with COVID-19, 113 in critical or intensive care.

Total cases since the pandemic started is up to 140,953.

Dr. Bonnie Henry, provincial health officer, announced three more deaths, raising the total to 1,611.

She said one of the deaths was a person in their 90s in long-term care in Interior Health and another was a person in their 70s in Northern Health.
