Speed Demon Has Truck Impounded
The speed limit was 100 — but a driver was caught going well over that in the North Okanagan.
Police say a pickup truck was caught going 155 kilometres an hour on Highway 97A in Spallumcheen near Otter Lake Cross Road Thursday morning.
The driver was given a $368 dollar fine, and the truck was impounded for seven days under the Motor Vehicle Act for excessive speeding.
“This is a good reminder to all motorists that the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP is committed to reducing speed related incidents on our highways,” says Cst. Kelly Brett. “Speed and distracted driving are some of the leading causes of motor vehicle incidents and the RCMP are asking motorists to slow down and pay attention to the roads and posted signs.”
