Enderby Prepares For Recreational Marijuana

Oct 4, 2018 | 7:44 AM

It looks like Enderby could be in the market for at least one shop selling recreational marijuana.

Representatives of the Mary Jane Resource Centre talked with Enderby Council Monday.

Mayor Greg McCune says the Centre has been around for a couple of years selling related items.

“So they’ll make their application for their licence to the province. Then it’ll be referred to the city and we’ll do our thing, probably will end up with a public hearing.”

McCune says the city feels the Centre is in a good location on the highway and he doesn’t expect any citizen opposition.

“They’ve been there for, probably actually maybe three years now. The community’s kind of adapted to them being there. I think everyone knew that that’s their intention.”

The city expects to be able to accept applications by mid-November.

“So, they would know at that point. So, that’s within one month of the actual time. That’s pretty good. I didn’t think it would be that fast, so that’s good news for them.”
