UPDATE: Second Accident Near Merritt Affects Traffic Flow

There has been a report of another accident South of Merritt on the Coquihalla.  Details are not available at this time as far as any interruptions and detours. Will update when available.  Regarding the accident earlier (below) Drive BC says traffic is now getting through using the left lane, but Exit 286 remains closed.

Motorists travelling the Connector/Coquihalla need to be aware of a major vehicle incident involving a roll over at the 286 interchange in Merritt, in which 1 person may have been ejected.

Drive BC says assessment in progress and emergency vehicles are on scene.

No official word on delays or detours, but it’s expected traffic flow will be affected.

As reported earlier on Beach Radio,  Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in effect for the Okanagan Connector in particular from Merritt to Kelowna.

Minimal snowfall amounts of two to four centimetres can be expected through this afternoon, however alerts for up to to 10 cm on the Connector.
